Brian Berryman's major interest is capturing old school recording styles and techniques, and combining them with new school digital flexibility to truly unique results. His great loves are traditional American folk, country, pop and rock--but he sure has a funny way of showing it. As the longtime assistant producer and lead engineer for Oscar and Grammy-winner Jeff Bass, he has spent long hours manning the boards for Eminem, T.I., Jem, 50 Cent, George Clinton and other international icons. Brian brings a highly sought-after hip hop element to Fancy Lad, but more than that, he is a student of music theory and he's passionate about finding the right musical match for a great idea.

Fabian Halabou currently splits his time as a composer/engineer for Fancy Lad and touring the country as a guitarist in The Silent Years. In his past lives, however, he has garnered experience in nearly every aspect of the music industry, monitoring every important trend and assembling a black book that's truly a subject of envy. He has worked as an audio archivist for Detroit Techno pioneer Carl Craig, and as an assistant engineer on recordings by The Format and The Detroit Cobras, to name just a couple. Fabian has also dipped his toe in the waters of publicity, journalism, and concert booking and promotion. You should hear his David Byrne story.

Doug Smith joins Fancy Lad with more than a decade of wordsmithing and songcrafting under his belt. His most recent musical accomplishment is writing and co-recording a 12-song LP with his band, Sea of Japan (which features two other Fancy Lads), on the emerging Detroit label Suburban Sprawl Music. He mostly draws from classic American folk and rock but is also influenced by a range of genres from jazz, to 70's retro pop to 90's alternative. But regardless of genre, Doug makes it melodic and he makes it memorable. He is also on the path to becoming a trained medical service provider, and is conveniently able to administer an IV should his unbridled rock styling result in any physical damage or loss of fluids.
